Horse Running Faith

“If you have run with footmen and they have tired you out, Then how can you compete with horses? If you fall down in a land of peace, How will you do in the thicket of the Jordan?

Jeremiah 12:5

So many of God’s people today are worn and weary with just everyday, ordinary tasks. People wear us out; jobs wear us out; activities wear us out.

The truth is, the world wears God’s people out. We are too busy. Our Bishop, Randall Lawrence, put it this way: BUSY means Buried Under Satan’s Yoke.

If dealing with people and tasks in everyday life has worn us out, how will we endure when real trials come our way?

If we stumble and fall in our walk of faith in days of peace, how will we overcome in days of personal trials or persecution from others?

Think of everyday “foot races”—ordinary pressures, misunderstandings, disappointments. If these daily strains already drain our stamina, we need to recognize it before greater challenges come.

Proverbs 24:10 says: “If you faint in the day of distress, how small is your strength!”

Matthew 24:9 says, “Then you will be arrested, persecuted, and killed. You will be hated all over the world because you are my followers.”

God's point to Jeremiah, and to us, is not to shame us but to prepare us: Expect the race to intensify; discipleship never stagnates; it keeps moving, flowing, and developing. Discipleship is not easy; it requires work, discipline, and endurance.

Jude 1:20 tells us,  But you, dear friends, must build each other up in your most holy faith, pray in the power of the Holy Spirit,

Psalm 1 tells us to deepen our prayer life and read and meditate on God's Word.

1 Samuel tells us to be obedient in private, unseen matters, which builds our character. People look at the outward appearance, but God sees our heart.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 tells us to build fellowship with others that will support us when storms hit.

Remember that the same God who tells us to “compete with horses” also promises, “Those who wait upon the LORD will renew their strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles” (Isaiah 40:31).
