Double For Your Trouble

Instead of your shame you will receive a double portion, and instead of disgrace you will rejoice in your inheritance. And so you will inherit a double portion in your land, and everlasting joy will be yours.

Times of trouble will come. The Word says it rains on the just and the unjust. What makes the difference between the just and the unjust? What we do, how we live, and what our attitude is while it's raining.

When it seems like the world is caving in on us and there is trouble on every side we have a choice of how to respond to our situation. Sometimes right after we've prayed about a situation we walk away and say "I don't know what I'm going to do? " "I don't know how to work this out." "I don't know where I'm going to get the money to pay for that."

Why are we still trying to work it out when we just asked God to work it out for us?

Even after praying we still agonize over our situation instead of completely trusting God to work it out. Do we pace the floor wringing our hands in worry or anxiety? Do we groan and complain and murmer? Do we settle into a pity party and let depression sink in? Many times we do.

God says that a double minded man is unstable in all his ways and should expect to receive nothing from God! While we are waiting on God with a bad attitude, speaking negatively, and acting like victims, He cannot make us Victorious!

Feelings cannot rule our lives. Feelings can lead us into wrong places. Our mind, will and emotions must submit to God's Holy Spirit. His Spirit that lives in us can carry us through any trial or trouble with peace, joy and hope. We need to learn that no matter what we are feeling, or what our circumstance is, God is going to bring us through to a better place!

There will always be a time of the cross and a time of the grave but Resurrection is coming!

Jesus has done His part, can we discipline ourselves to do ours? How can we pull down the strongholds of the devil if we can't pull down the strongholds of our own flesh!

"There is a cost in discipleship-- God has no basement-bargain blessings."

-Leonard Ravenhill

But Praise God! I believe if we can face our trial with the right attitude and trust in God He will bring us through and we WILL receive double blessings for our former trouble!
