Jesus said, "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." (John 14:27)

Feelings, whoa whoa whoa feelings...

We are made in God's image, and we know know that God feels, He has been grieved, angered and sorrowed, but He is full of joy when His children turn to Him. Jesus felt every emotion while here on earth but He never deterred from the task for which He was sent here. His feelings never mastered Him and He has provided that same benefit for us.

We might say "I can't help how I feel". That's true, emotions will always come but we have to learn how to manage them and not let them manage us. It feels good sometimes to throw a fit or have a pity party, it feels good to crawl back in the bed and hide from the world, but to be effective for the Kingdom of God we have to learn how to live beyond our feelings and obey God’s Word – even when we don’t feel like it.

The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?

He who trusts in his own heart is a fool.

Our feelings will lie to us!

Sometimes we feel in love but it's only lust, sometimes we feel tired but it's just laziness, sometimes we feel self pity but it's really envy of others.

Following our heart cultivates an attitude of selfishness rather than one of surrender.

We also become prone to “picking and choosing” our truth—receiving the things that make us feel good, and rejecting the things that don’t.

We need to read the Word, attend Bible study, attend church services, pray for others-even when we don't feel like it. Faith follows God, while feelings merely depend on how a person feels. We can't let our emotions rob and weaken our Spirits, let's ask God to help us discipline ourselves in this area.
